Telecom Italia Provides Fiber Optic Broadband in Tirano

Tirano in the northern province of Italy will get superfast broadband services over fiber optic networks, thanks to the deployment done by Telecom Italia. The incumbent telecom operator has announced the commercial launch of fiber optic services in the town.

Telecom Italia used non-invasive, low-impact digging techniques for the deployment of fiber optic networks. Telecom Italia deploys Fiber to the Curb (FTTC) technology to provide broadband services to its subscribers in Italy. Telecom Italia’s FTTC technology provides customers in many parts of the town with internet connections at speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

The operator’s fiber optic services are currently available at the promotional rates of EUR 29 per month for consumers and EUR 35 for businesses for the first 6 months. Telecom Italia had revealed the acceleration of the NGN development plan over the past year. Telecom Italia’s fiber network now covered 41 percent of Italian households, while its LTE network had been extended to cover 87 percent of the population.
