Birch Communications Connects 130,000 Buildings with Fiber in Q1 2016

Atlanta based Birch Communications, Inc. announces the growth of its fiber optic footprints to 130,000 more buildings. Birch Communications, one of the leading nationwide provider of communications, network and cloud services to small, mid-sized, enterprise and wholesale businesses across North America added connected these buildings with their fiber optic cables in the first quarter of 2016. The provider has a total to more than 550,000 Metro-Fiber buildings in its account. The first quarter additions mark the fifth major Metro-Fiber network expansion in the past 12 months. Birch plans to connect 1 million buildings with fiber optic cables by the end of 2016.

Birch’s expansion of Metro-Fiber network also drives demand for its comprehensive suite of other value-added products and services. Birch has increased the availability of its BirchLink Metro-Fiber service to customers seeking to maximize their Internet service options through a full range of reliable and secure connectivity by adding 130,000 more buildings. Customers can now access a business-class solution offering equal upload and download speeds with an industry-leading SLA guarantee on our BirchLink Metro-Fiber service. In addition, Birch now controls an IP-Network, which spans 65 major markets across North America and comprised of 32,000 route-miles (51,500 km) of fiber and 667 points of presence (POPs).

Deploying additional Metro-Fiber assets continue to be a major part of Birch’s overall growth strategy for 2016. The company plans to expand bandwidth-rich services to another 600 central offices throughout the U.S. in the coming months, as well as build more network interconnection agreements with additional carriers to meet rising demand.

The ability to reach an additional 130,000 buildings over Metro-Fiber is a huge milestone for Birch as delivering high-performance fiber and network services to our customers that ultimately make it easier for them to work in the cloud, upload and download large multimedia files and stream video content is essential. Birch officials said the company continues to serve as a trusted technology partner not only for high-speed Internet services but for all of their diverse communications and technology needs.
