Network-Telecom Engineer in San Antonio

This position provides system support for all UNIX/Linux based software by implementing, monitoring and maintaining systems and application software running under UNIX/Linux. The position also works with commercial information technology vendors to provide optimum system performance and availability. Responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of UNIX/Linux based network appliances and operating systems. Recognizes and troubleshoots problems with server hardware and applications software. Establishes and documents standards and procedures for management review. Requires extensive knowledge of computer operations and familiarity with shell and kernel programming. Requires two to four years of operational experience in UNIX/Linux systems.
General Duties/Responsibilities:

Works in conjunction with Telecom Engineer who has responsibility for coordination of technical activities on multiple platforms of assigned telephone systems to identify telecommunication vulnerabilities within those systems. Telephone Systems are comprised from a variety of manufacturers (i.e. Avaya, Nortel, Cisco) operating on a mixture of platforms using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) services.
Maintains UNIX/Linux Operating System to provide optimum performance and system availability.
Supports software vendor to ensure application software is installed correctly and all current maintenance levels have been applied.
Creates and maintains environment for running batch jobs associated with daily batch cycle and batch reporting subsystem.
Works with LAN personnel to ensure compatibility with LAN applications and peripheral hardware to provide end users with reliable and stable working environment.
Requires extensive regular contact with assigned project members.
Coordinate with Military, Government Civilians and other contracted team members on a daily basis. Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates assigned engineering work; monitors work for compliance to government requirements, accepted engineering practices, and IPSecure Inc. standards; ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all project members.
Participating in Client/contractor meetings and resolving Client/engineering and management project issues.

Qualifications:
Active TS/SCI clearance or SCI eligible
Three years of experience providing Network support in UNIX/Linux environment.
Two (2) years’ experience with TCP-IP, SIP, H.323 or similar network protocols.
Five (5) years of experience using Microsoft Office software applications to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Requires bachelor’s degree in computer science/related field or mastery level skill in Network Administration support.
One or more of the following IAT Level II Certifications (i.e., GSEC, SECURITY+, SCNP, SSCP)
