The Spain’s telecommunication regulator CNMC (National Commission Markets and Competition) has published data relating to the Spanish telecommunications market in February 2016. The report summarizes the telecommunication activities and growth in the subscriber base for various service providers.
The fiber optic broadband had pushed through other broadband technologies in Spain. Fiber To The Home, FTTH lines grew by 157,116 lines to a total of 3.4 million lines, of which 69.3% belongs to Movistar (2.4 million). DSL lines suffered a loss of 146,449.
In total, the fixed broadband lines increased by 36,182 to a total of 13,256,261. This corresponds to a ratio of 28.5 lines per 100 inhabitants, which is one point more than a year ago.
In February, Vodafone (including Ono) and Orange (including Jazztel) secured more connections, while Movistar reduced its fixed broadband share slightly.
Regarding the market share of fixed broadband lines, 95% of fixed broadband lines focused on the three main operators, Movistar, Orange (including Jazztel) and Vodafone (including Ono).
As for fixed broadband service wholesaler, NEBA increased their subscriber base. Leading from the end of 2014, NEBA added 14,076 new lines.
Mobile Phones
The number of mobile connections reduced in February by 60,742 lines. The increase in postpaid 84,525 did not offset the drop in prepaid, with 145,267 fewer lines. February was closed with a figure of 50,637,147 mobile lines.

In February 2016, total fixed lines increased by 4,969. The month February was closed with a total of 18,842,920 lines, representing a penetration of 40.6 lines per 100 inhabitants.
