TELUS announces that it has been granted $31 million by the federal government’s Connect to Innovate program and the Quebec government’s Québec branché program to continue deploying its PureFibre broadband network in Quebec. This amount is in addition to the $13.7 million that TELUS has already committed to investing in its incumbent territory. By 2021,TELUS will have invested over $300 million in its fibre-optic network.
“Thanks to the support of the federal and provincial governments, we will be offering high-speed Internet access to 99% of the population of Eastern Quebec by 2021,” said François Gratton, Executive Vice-President, TELUS Partner Solutions, and President, Business Solutions East and TELUS Québec. “Since 2013, we’ve invested upwards of $300 million to expand our fibre-optic network in Quebec so that thousands of residents, businesses and public establishments can have access to a world-class network at competitive prices. On behalf of the 6,000 members of the TELUS team in Quebec, I pledge to make every effort to ensure Quebecers have the best technology solutions at home, at work and on the go,” added Mr. Gratton.
