Fiber Optic Cable Technician for Sydney Rail Network

Chandler Macleod is currently seeking Cable Network Maintainers (Cable technician), to carry out the relocation of telecommunications cable on the Sydney rail network.

The Cable Network Maintainer is responsible for incident response, maintenance and the implementation of the Operational Technology Optical Fibre and Copper Cable Networks to ensure a high level of availability for train control, rail communications and customers.

This Project will start Mid February 2021

Successful applicants must have:
Current Australian Communications Media Authority (ACMA) licence with Optical Fibre Cable endorsements
Proven experience in delivering and undertaking maintenance activities on Optical Fibre and Copper cable network systems in the field, including splicing, terminating and jointing fibre optic and copper cable

Excellent fault finding and analytical skills

Sound communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills to enable the effective provision of advice, information and assistance to Management, other staff and contractors
Experience working on the NBN Network will be highly regarded

As these roles will involve working inside the Sydney Trains corridor, a current RIW – Rail Industry Worker card will be highly regarded.
