Optical Engineer Job in Keene, New Hampshire
Job Summary:
As an Optical Engineer with Corning, we will work to develop cost effective ways for alignment and testing of both refractive and reflective optical systems for commercial and defense applications. You will develop the initial system test architecture followed by designing the support test equipment and methodology. You will verify and validate opto-mechanical designs for compliance.
Required Skills:
We require a MS in Optics, Physics, related disciple, or 7-10 years of direct work experience with a BS.
We are looking for an experienced optical engineer with a background in electro-optic related systems development and optical metrology. We would highly prefer someone with defense systems experience.
Experience utilizing optical metrology to verify and measure highly complex optical components and assemblies.
We need strong problem solving skills, to include creating non-standard approaches to metrology solutions for optical components and assemblies.
Experience analyzing optical data and interpreting data for conformance to optical design intentions.
Communicating with optical designers and engineering teams.
Proficient in alignment, testing, optimization and debugging electro-optics systems
Familiarity with measurement uncertainty budgets
Good understanding of System’s reliability, GD&T, PFMEA, and DFMA.
Good hands-on product development skills and lab experience (e.g., interferometer, profilometer, MTF metrology, autocollimators, alignment telescopes, etc)
Ability to read and interpret mechanical, optical, and electrical drawings
Competence with development tools in optical engineering (e.g., Code V, Zemax, Matlab, SolidWorks, etc.).
Desired Skills:
Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel.
Knowledge of hyperspectral and multispectral imaging systems and relevant metrology
Travel:
We anticipate up to 10% travel for this role primarily domestic, to customer sites or other Corning facilities.
Required to sign a covenant not to compete.
