West Coast Optilinks, WCO, formerly known as Sudarshan Telecom, an Indian fiber optic cable manufacturing company has announced the completion of expansion of their fiber optic cable manufacturing capacity. The doubling of the manufacturing capacity was achieved by constructing a facility at Fab City, Hyderabad, Telengana (a South Indian State).
West Coast Optilinks has an existing fiber cable production facility in Mysore, Karnataka where the company produces different types of loose tube type fiber optic cables.
The newly established factory has started commercial production on 14 February, as per the press release published by the West Coast Paper Mills Ltd, which is the parent company of WCO.
Top managemnt of West Coast Paper Mills Ltd commented that by expanding the manufacturing capacity of optical fiber cables in India, the company meets the increasing demand for the optical fiber cables, in the context of advancing 5G technology and broader digital transformation agenda in India.
WCO is manufacturing different range of optical fiber cables at its facility in Mysore to meet demands of the Indian and global telecom and utility sectors. WCO exports fiber optic cables to Europe and the MEA region.
The production facility at Fab City, Hyderabad will be the second unit after Mysore. Provisions for further future expansion of the Hyderabad unit has already been made while designing the manufacturing facility.
WCO is also currently working on establishing its own optical fiber drawing towers at the Fab City production facility in Hyderabad. WCO hopes that the optical fibers drawn at this facility will cater to the needs of both fiber cable manufacturing facilities. Construction activities of this fiber drawing facility is progressing aggressively.
